A piece of the promo art for Upperdecks Marvel VS series.
Good ol Colossus. He's the only character that I accept the "Colossus effect" on. That effect being the embossed parallel lines that wrap around his metalic body. It has to be one of the most tacky design elements I've ever seen, and erks me whenever I see it used on another character. But Colossus was the first character I ever saw that really used this design element, so for me its okay for him to still employ it.
Yeah. I suppose that if it's meant to represent segments for the muscles to contract on, then each muscle should have its own array of segments that are independent on the others! But of course, in order to see them, you'd be implying that the skin has vanished... which would be majorly creepy.

Seriously though, just when I think you can't get any cooler, you go and rag on one of the many cheesy, uninspired, overused character "design" elements that plagued comicdom in the nadir of its history. (i.e. the 1990's)
Bravo man. Now get back to drawing chicks like we expect.

Now, I'm going to say first that I haven't seen Colossus in a long time so my opinion is probably skewed here but this is probably the best fanart I've seen of him bar none. It's clean, well defined and his character shows through in every line. He's badass (no doubt) but clean cut and ready to rumble, everything about this picture is perfect. I will put a hat on and take it off to you sir. Well done.
As a matter of curiosity, how much time did it take to sketch this, I've heard of people doing iterative sketches to get a good feeling for proportion and pose (etc) did you do that with this image?
Yeah, it was like suddenly everything made of metal in Marvel or Image had to be drawn that way...
